Free Online Virtual Home State Mixer hosted by Things To Do DC

Stuck at home – yet still anxious to socialize with new people? Tonight, we have created a unique virtual ice breaker to connect with people who also grew up in your home state.

Note: We expect the great majority of attendees to be currently living in the DC/MD/VA area. But, when we say “home state”, we mean the state you primarily grew up in (not where you currently live).

This is a great event to connect with people from your home state AND an alternative Ice Breaker to connect with people from different parts of the country or even the world!

You can sign up here.

PART 1 - YOUR HOME STATE: Using the ZOOM Platform, upon arrival, you will be placed in a specific breakout room to socialize with people from your home state or region. So, for example, if you are from New York, you will be placed in a “New York” breakout room where you can reminisce with others about neighborhoods you all know or popular spots in nearby cities, or friends/teachers/ acquaintances you may realize you have in common.

If you are from a state that there are few or no participants, we will place you in a regional breakout room. (For example, if you are the only one from New Hampshire, we might place you in the “Massachusetts” room, or create a general “New England Room”)

If you grew up in another country, we may place you in an “International” room or a room of people from your country or continent.

PART 2 - MEET PEOPLE FROM OTHER STATES: In the second part of the evening, we will combine different rooms so participants can meet people from a specific different part of the country/world. So, we may combine people from the North East, or the South, or the West Coast.

PART THREE - RANDOM: In the final part of the evening, we will mix everyone around randomly so you can meet people from all over the country/world. Upon request, we can move you to a different virtual room.

All chatroom links and invitations will be sent out a few minutes before the event (to ensure only registrants attend). They will be sent to the email address you use to register for the event.

Any unauthorized person, or any person acting inappropriately during the chat room, or anyone using this as a forum to sell their own services or products will be immediately removed and blocked.
